Bright House Networks Kicks Off 20th Year of Star Teacher Awards Competition
Livonia, MI. - September 30, 2008
As the 2008/2009 academic year gets underway, Bright House Networks (BHN) is urging all educators in Wayne and Oakland Counties to shoot for the stars by entering the 2009 National Star Teacher Awards program. For 20 years, the program has been recognizing the most innovative teachers throughout the country who use valuable resources and cable programming available through Cable in the Classroom.
For 2009, every winning project of the Star Teacher Awards will be awarded $1,000. In the case of a winning team of three, each teacher will receive $500 each. Along with the prize money, every teacher will receive a Tiffany Crystal Star. All winners will be invited to attend the annual Star Teacher Awards Gala and travel on an all expense paid trip to a selected destination. In addition, the schools that have a teacher as a finalist will receive a new laptop computer for their media center.
"We are looking forward to this year's competition and honoring our best and brightest teachers throughout our community," said Robert McCann, President of Bright House Networks Detroit Division. "Bright House Networks is proud of its partnership with Cable in the Classroom and invites all educators to participate in this great competition."
A maximum of ten projects will be selected as winning entries. Teachers may enter projects as individuals or as teams of up to three teachers. To be eligible to enter projects for consideration in the Bright House Networks National Star Teacher Awards, teachers must be in a state accredited public or private school (K-12) located within a BHN service area. Classroom projects should have occurred between September 2008 and February 2009. All teachers may register on the Star Teacher Awards web site for a special gift.
